Graphic Design 1 & MGD1001 Do-Now

Today's CLO

Today I will either write, speak or demonstrate my knowledge of design,

so that I can create a Photoshop design.

 

I know I have it when I have created a design that uses design principles (hierarchy, flow & typography) and masking, clipping paths, selection tools and new skills to design a creative and unique book cover or music poster design.

Monday 9/30 & Tuesday 10/1

Project Feedback & Notes

  1. Provide feedback about the pen tool exercises and Pop Art project. 

  2. Open your End of Project Reflection that is in Schoology. Review the feedback and grade on the doc. 

  3. Open your Book & Poster Notes doc. If you weren’t here last class, look at the last Do-Now to review setting up your folder and doc.

 

Wednesday 9/25 & Thursday 9/26

Project Reflection & Notes

  1. Complete the October Count Survey.

  2. Create a new folder in your Final and title it Choice Design.

  3. Create a new Google Doc in that folder and title it “Book and Poster Notes”.

 

Monday 9/23 & Tuesday 9/24

Prepare for Critique 

  1. Create a new Doc in your Pop Art folder.

  2. Copy the critique form below, paste it into your new doc, and leave the document open. Pop Art Critique Form

  3. Fill in your name and title it correctly by clicking on Untitled Document at the top. 

  4. Open your PSD files on your screen.

Screen Printing

We will be watching a few short videos to learn how the screen printing process works. This is the process that Andy Warhol used when creating his art.

Monday 9/16 & Tuesday 9/17

Prepare for Pop Art Introduction

  1. Create a new folder in your Final and title it “Pop Art”.

  2. Create a new Google Doc and open the Pop Art Creative Brief. 

  3. Select all, copy and paste it into the blank doc. 

  4. Title it correctly by just clicking on the Untitled Document at the top.

  5. Fill in your name, capitalized, and the period at the top.

2. Read over the comments and feedback.

Check Your Drive

1. Go to your Google Drive. 

2. Check that you have the following:

        - Your folder is named Period7_LastName, FirstName

        - Open. your Period folder and that you have a Final and Misc. folder.

Setting Up Google Drive

  1. Log into your school Google account (DPS email and birthday for the password)

  2. Go to your Google Drive

  3. Create a new folder titled- Period2_lastName, FirstName

  4. Share the folder by searching for Steve Wiant or steve_wiant@dpsk12.net. 

  5. Create two subfolders: Misc., Final
