Pop Art Project
Objective
Your project will be an Andy Warhol inspired design. Find an image online or use a photo of yourself. You're allowed to explore your creativity however you want with the image selection. Follow the steps below to get started.
Project Requirements
-
Your PSD file and JPG files are turned in with the correct names.
-
Clipping paths are created with the pen tool
-
Accuracy and attention to details
-
Intentional color selection is used to compliment the images and backgrounds. Do not repeat colors unless intentional.
-
Original image is saved on a layer and visibility is turned off.
Step 1: Brainstorming Steps
-
Create a new folder in your Final and title it “Pop Art”.
-
Create a new Google Doc and open the Pop Art Creative Brief.
-
Select all, copy and paste it into the blank doc.
-
Title it correctly by just clicking on the Untitled Document at the top.
-
Fill in your name, capitalized, and the period at the top.
Step 2: Image Selection Steps
Find an image that you will use for your design. Are you using a selfie from your phone? Email it to your Gmail to download it for your project.
Are you finding an image off of Google? Make sure to find a large image. Follow the video directions on how to find a large enough image and how to bring it into Photoshop if you need to.
If your image is larger than the box, that is OK because you will learn how to use clipping masks. The clipping mask tutorial is on the Resources page. We will talk about this more in the future.
Remember, you can’t make a photo larger than it is when you bring it into Photoshop. If it is small, you will need to find another photo!
Step 3: Project Steps
-
Download the Pop Art PSD Grid and open it in Photoshop.
-
Lock the guides by going to Menu Bar>View>Guides>Lock Guides.
-
Review the Pop Art Tutorial to learn how to create your own design. You are not creating the Ice Cube design in the tutorial. You are creating your own design and just using this as a reference.
Note - Play around with different filters other than Cutout if you like.
